Melts In Your Mouth, but Not In Your Hand.. Why?

M&Ms melt in your mouth, but not in your hand. But why? Read on to find out.

The outer coating of an M&M is called the crispy sugar coating. The coating is made of suagar and water which makes it dissolves in water. The coating of the M&M dissolves because of the saliva in your mouth.

Secondly, the crispy sugar coating prevents the transfer of heat from your hand to the chocolate. The coating also has a higher melting point than the temperature of your hand and so the crispy sugar coating does not melt.

Now that you’ve learned a little chocolate science, go enjoy some M&Ms!
